Find the weaknesses before attackers do

Regular vulnerability scanning across your network, devices and website, with clear priorities, practical fixes and help arranging penetration testing when you need it.

The challenge

New vulnerabilities appear every week

Software flaws, misconfigured devices and forgotten systems give attackers an easy way in. Many attacks exploit weaknesses that were publicly known and could have been fixed.

Without regular scanning, it’s hard to know which issues affect your business and which need attention first.

What scans often uncover

  • Devices and software missing security updates
  • Remote access services exposed to the internet
  • Old servers or devices nobody remembered
  • Weak or default settings on network equipment
  • Out-of-date website software and plugins

What’s included

Vulnerability management services

Every arrangement is scoped around your business, but most include:

Internal scanning

Check computers, servers and network devices inside your business for missing patches and weak settings.

Website checks

Review your website’s software, plugins and configuration for known vulnerabilities.

Risk-based prioritisation

Rank findings by severity and business impact, so the most important fixes happen first.

Remediation

Patch, reconfigure or retire vulnerable systems, then rescan to confirm the issue is closed.

Penetration testing support

Help scoping a penetration test, engaging a qualified tester and fixing what they find.

How we work

Our process

Discover

Identify the systems and addresses in scope.

Scan

Run scheduled scans inside and outside your network.

Prioritise

Rank findings and agree what to fix first.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a vulnerability scan and a penetration test?

A vulnerability scan is an automated check for known weaknesses across many systems. A penetration test is a manual, time-boxed exercise where a skilled tester tries to exploit weaknesses to show what an attacker could achieve. Scans work best when run regularly; pen tests are usually done periodically or after major changes.

How often should we scan?

We generally recommend scanning internet-facing systems frequently and internal systems at least monthly. The Essential Eight sets specific scanning frequencies depending on the maturity level you’re aiming for.

Do we need a penetration test?

Not always. Many small businesses get more value from fixing the basics first. A pen test makes sense when a customer, insurer or contract requires one, or after significant changes to your systems.

Will scanning disrupt our systems?

Scans are configured to be low impact and can be scheduled outside business hours. We’ll agree the timing with you before scanning starts.
