Email security that stops phishing and impersonation

Filter out phishing and malware, stop criminals pretending to be your business, and protect mailboxes from takeover.

The challenge

Email is still the most common way in

Phishing emails, fake invoices and spoofed messages from ‘the boss’ are behind many incidents affecting Australian businesses. One convincing email can lead to stolen passwords or a payment sent to the wrong account.

Default settings rarely provide enough protection, and many businesses haven’t set up the records that stop others sending email in their name.

Common email risks

  • Phishing emails reaching staff inboxes
  • Fake invoices with changed bank details
  • Your domain spoofed in scam emails
  • Mailboxes taken over and used to send more scams
  • Hidden forwarding rules sending data outside

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What are SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

They’re DNS records that help receiving mail servers check whether an email really came from your business. Together they make it much harder for criminals to send emails that appear to come from your domain.

What is business email compromise?

It’s when criminals take over or impersonate a business email account to trick staff, customers or suppliers, often into paying a fake invoice or changing bank details.

Is Microsoft 365’s built-in filtering enough?

It provides a reasonable baseline. Defender for Office 365, included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium, adds stronger protection for links and attachments. Either way, settings need to be configured properly to be effective.

Will DMARC block our legitimate emails?

Not if it’s rolled out in stages. We start by monitoring, confirm every service that sends email for you, then tighten the policy gradually.
